Getting started
What is Sleepy Manager?
A moderation and safety bot for Discord. Every warning, timeout, kick, ban, staff note and Automod block goes on one record per member, so your team can see who did what and why.
Is it free?
Yes. Protection is always free: Automod, anti-nuke, raid mode, the panic button, verification, lockdowns and every moderation command. Premium (coming later) adds extras like keeping history longer, spreadsheet (CSV) downloads, moderator stats and your own DM wording. Every plan can download cases as a PDF. It never charges for stopping a raid.
How do I set it up?
Add it to your server, then open the dashboard (it starts the setup wizard for you) or use /setup in Discord. The wizard picks a protection level: Off, Relaxed, Balanced or Strict. You can change any setting later.
Do I have to use the website?
No. Everything on the dashboard can also be done in Discord.
What permissions does it need?
The ones in the invite link: ban, kick, timeout, manage messages, manage roles, manage channels (locks and slowmode), manage webhooks (to remove webhooks an attacker makes), view audit log (to spot and record actions) and manage server (for Discord's AutoMod rules and pausing invites in a raid).
Moderating
What's a case?
Every action gets a number (#1, #2 and so on) with who did it, why, how long and any evidence. Every edit to a case is kept too, with who changed it and when. Open a member's record with /history.
What if a moderator makes a mistake?
Actions have an Undo button for 3 minutes afterwards, and bans ask to confirm first (admins can switch that off). Admins can also delete a case made by mistake.
Does it record bans and timeouts done by hand in Discord?
Yes. If a moderator bans or times someone out from Discord's own menus, the bot records it as a case too.
Will punished members know why?
By default they get a DM with the reason, length and case number. If you set an appeal link, ban DMs get an Appeal button. Servers can switch the DMs off.
Can members report messages?
Yes: right-click a message, then Apps, then Report to moderators. Your moderators get the report with buttons to act on it.
Safety
What does it do about raids?
If lots of accounts pour in, raid mode pauses invites with Discord's own tool and holds back the accounts that just joined, so they can't type until staff decide or the raid ends. Staff get a list of everyone who joined, with Kick all, Ban all or "They're fine". /panic locks everything in one go.
What if one of our admins goes rogue?
If anyone (or a bot) bans, kicks or deletes too much too fast, Sleepy Manager takes their roles away, undoes their bans, re-creates what they deleted in the last 7 days, and asks the owner what to do next. Only the server owner can change security settings or switch it off.
Will it catch my real members in a raid?
Staff get a "They're fine" button that lets everyone in and ends raid mode. With verification set up, real members can also let themselves in with a button.
Do I need to switch on the scam guard?
No. Known scam links are deleted in every server, even with Automod off. Admins can switch it off in Automod, under Scams & hacked accounts.
Will it punish someone whose account got hacked?
No strike. If an account posts the same message in lots of channels, the copies are deleted, it's paused for 24 hours and its owner gets a DM on how to secure it. Staff get a "They're safe" button.
Does Automod still work if the bot is offline?
Banned words, the mention limit, custom patterns, Discord's suspected-spam rule and the bad-names rule do: they run as Discord's own AutoMod rules. Spam, caps, emoji, invite and link filters need the bot online.
Privacy
Does it read our chats?
It checks messages against your Automod rules and records server activity for your staff to search. It never sells your data, and has no ads or trackers.
How long is data kept?
Logs, alerts, strikes, security history and kick, ban and timeout cases: 7 days on free servers, 30 on Doze, 90 on Nap, 180 on Hibernate. Warnings and notes: for as long as the bot is in your server, on every plan. Server settings: while the bot is in your server, and 30 days after it's removed. The privacy policy has the details.
Can we turn off what it records?
Yes. Admins can switch each kind of record on or off: voice, messages, moderation, commands and members.
